                                     President

Four years ago when I started running, my husband and I said to each other: too much work and not enough play, the kids all grown and out of the house. His bright idea was let's do a marathon, and six months later he did one. I did a half.Took me another 6 month to get mine in.

I searched out clubs to get me through my long runs on Saturdays. Through word of mouth I ended up at the Rose Bowl with the Pasadena Pacers and very happy I did.

Every Saturday morning I commute 76 miles round trip to be with the pacers, to have nothing but a good time, to stay in shape, always meeting new people, and totally forgetting for a couple of hours a week there is life after work.

I'm very excited to be the president in 2009. My message is run strong and healthy.

                                      Vice President

As my 60th year approached, I wanted to celebrate by running a half marathon. Don't ask me why because I'd never run before. I did some sleuthing on the web and found the Pasadena Pacers.

I contacted Dr. Smith and he said there was a conditioning program starting and to come on down to the Rose Bowl that Saturday. That day I became a runner and did my first half marathon in Long Beach that October.

It's now three years later and I completed my first full marathon last November in New York.

The Pacers is a great group. Everyone is training for something different but it's the spirit of running that brings us to the Rose Bowl each Saturday.

                                            President

                                April 2008 to March 2009

I joined the Pacers on January 2007. I had many great races with the club and made lasting friendships. I was elected president in 2008.

An unprecedented accomplishment with the club was taking 2nd place in last November's Pasadena Marathon club challenge: we had 225 registered runners. The membership keeps growing strong, and the value that our club has added to the Pasadena community is remarkable.

I look forward to waking up every Saturday morning to be in the company of such wonderful group of people. I'm a lucky gal.
